Circus Aerial Dance
The Art of Aerial Dance by Compagnia dei Folli
Aerial dance circus, or acrobatic circus, is one of the most fascinating and innovative forms in the repertoire of Compagnia dei Folli. Our performers literally dance in three dimensions, defying gravity and creating breathtaking choreographies that captivate the audience. They use a wide range of circus apparatus, transforming simple objects into instruments of artistic expression and wonder.
Among the apparatus our acrobats master with great skill are the aerial hoop, aerial straps, trapeze, aerial silks, aerial rope (or corde lisse), and aerial net. On each of these apparatuses, the performers execute complex danced acrobatic choreographies, combining strength, grace and extraordinary precision. Every movement and every figure is the result of years of training and a deep connection with the surrounding space, transforming each performance into true poetry in motion.
Compagnia dei Folli’s aerial dance circus is not an isolated art form, but blends harmoniously with the company’s other distinctive techniques. The elegance of performers suspended in the air combines with the imposing presence of stilt walkers, adding a vertical and almost dreamlike dimension to the shows. The element of fire, with its dancing and hypnotic flames, creates powerful and evocative contrasts, amplifying the visual impact of the aerial performances.
In addition, the skilful use of pyrotechnics takes the show to an even higher level. Bursts of light and colour, synchronised with the movements of the performers, transform the air into a vibrant canvas, making every event even more spectacular and unforgettable. This fusion of different performing arts is what makes Compagnia dei Folli’s events truly unique. Our aerial dance circus is not simply a display of technical skill, but a visual and emotional narrative that transports the audience into a world where the boundaries between dream and reality begin to fade. Every performance is a complete sensory experience, designed to amaze and inspire.
