Talking Cricket in front of the book of Pinocchio by the Compagnia dei Folli

Pinocchio on the Road

Once upon a time there was a carpenter. Actually, no! Once upon a time there was an inventor.

In our show about Pinocchio, the wooden puppet's classic adventure becomes that of a modern-day child, constantly torn between duty and play, innocent to the point of falling into the hands of any town bully.

Pinocchio is therefore a robot child; the Cat and the Fox are two punk rockers devoted to snatching bags; Lampwick is a suburban kid with a bit of Piotta about him. The Talking Cricket, like a storyteller, introduces the events about to unfold through a huge illustrated book that forms the set of the show. Other characters include a giant Fire-Eater with his puppet theatre and the Blue Fairy, who flies across the stage like a butterfly, gently guiding Pinocchio back onto the right path.

Our Pinocchio is therefore conceived as an event for audiences of all ages, in which the performers use stilts, imposing sets, fireworks and elements of dance theatre to create a show driven entirely by visual imagery.

Alongside the version designed for large spaces, we have also created a theatrical version of Pinocchio on the Road, with particular emphasis on the elements aimed at children, making it suitable for children’s theatre festivals and programmes.
